Recreation is one of the many things Durango, Colorado is not short on and is one of the main reasons it is a sought-after tourist destination. Within the city limits you will find art galleries, shopping, and renowned dining spots.

Like many historic cities, Main Avenue is where you will find the most to do as well as plenty of historic architecture to admire. The best part of Durango is that there is always something to do, some events to note include the Durango Ragtime and Early Jazz Festival and the popular Snowdown Festival.

What really sets Durango recreation apart from other cities is it’s outdoor recreation. It is most famously home to the Purgatory resort, which is about 25 miles north of Downtown Durango. The ski-resort hosts shopping and dining, but most importantly it offers world class skiing with tourists traveling from all over the world to ski down its slopes.
